cine_rahul:
Been seeing a lot of AI generated short films lately… some look insane, like near Hollywood level shots.

Is this actually usable for real filmmaking or just cool demos?

vfx_nikhil:
Runway ML is already being used in small productions.

Not full movies yet, but for:

background shots
VFX fillers
concept scenes

Big studios experimenting quietly.

I tried making a 2 min short using Pika Labs

Honestly:

visuals = wow
consistency = problem

Same character changes face in next shot 😅

So storytelling becomes difficult.

scriptwriter_meena:
Writers not replaced yet (thank god).

AI can generate scripts, but:

too generic
no emotional depth

Tools like ChatGPT help with ideas, but not full screenplay.

For YouTube creators, this is gold.

Using Synthesia for faceless videos.

No camera, no actors, just script → video.

Monetization possible but audience can feel its AI sometimes.

What about full AI movies? Like completely generated?

ai_builder_anu:
Still not there.

Main issues:

character consistency
long scene control
physics errors
voice sync

Even Sora is impressive but not ready for full-length films.

Editing workflow changing a lot though.

AI helps in:

auto cuts
color grading
scene detection

Tools like Adobe Premiere Pro adding AI features directly.

As someone in film industry 20+ yrs…

AI is tool, like camera evolution.

People said digital cameras will kill cinema. Didn’t happen.

Same here.

Feels like same hype as NFTs again 😂

Everyone posting "AI movie" but most are just 30 sec clips.

True, but cost reduction is REAL.

Earlier:

1 scene cost lakhs

Now:

AI can generate similar shot in minutes

For indie creators this is huge.

Voice + sound also changing.

AI voice tools getting crazy good.

But still lacks natural emotion in long dialogues.

freelancer_meena:
Clients now asking:
"can you make video using AI cheaper?"

So pricing pressure coming.

I see opportunity here.

If someone builds:

AI video automation
niche content channels

Can scale fast.

So what should we learn if we want to enter this field now?

vfx_nikhil (reply):
Learn combo:

storytelling
basic editing
AI tools usage

Only AI → not enough
Only traditional → slow growth

Mix is future.

cine_rahul (OP):
So summary:

AI not replacing filmmakers
but reducing cost massively
great for small creators
still not ready for full movies

Makes sense.

Biggest change is this:

Anyone with laptop can now "attempt" filmmaking.

Quality may vary, but entry barrier gone.
