@MikeHauler_DE yes most modern ones learn from driver overrides — each override is treated as a data signal. After enough overrides on the same segment it adjusts the weighting. But honestly most drivers dont trust it at first and override way too aggressively in month 1-2 which skews the learning. We actually saw better results when we showed drivers the cost-per-override on a dashboard. Suddenly they only overrode when they had a good reason lol

Honest question — does the AI actually account for drivers who know short cuts? Like my guys know that the ring road gets jammed at 4:15 every single day. Does the system learn that over time or do you have to manually input it? Because if the drivers have to override it constantly thats just friction and they stop using it.

The 11% is actually inline with most independent benchmarks I've seen. A 2023 McKinsey study on AI in transport put average fuel savings at 10–15% for mid-size fleets. Vendors show best-case scenarios because thats literally thier sales team. Real gains come from combining AI routing with driver behavior data — thats where the bigger savings are hiding. Fuel alone won't hit 20%.

Same experience honestly. We got 9% fuel reduction in year one, which is real money but not the 20% the demo showed. The demo always uses like a perfect dataset lol. What I've noticed is the AI gets noticeably better after 3-4 months once it has enough of your own historical data — it was kinda generic at first. Did your vendor have a onboarding/training period or they just flipped the switch?

We rolled out an AI route optimizer about 8 months back. Vendor promised 18-22% fuel savings. Actual result? 11%. Still decent but I think people need to be honest about this gap. The tool works great on highways but struglges with our semi-urban routes where local knowledge matters. Anyone else seeing similar numbers? Also curious if weather integration actually helps because ours is just... okay.
