Is a pallet pool still worth it in 2026 or should I just go robot?

Classic debate. Pallet system vs robot tending for a DMU 50.
Pallet pool is proven and simple. Robot is more flexible for different part sizes.
What’s everyone leaning toward these days?

Pallet pool if you can fixture enough jobs. It’s still the most reliable lights-out solution for a 5-axis mill in my opinion.
Robot wins if your parts change a lot or you can’t justify a bunch of fixtures.
We run both. Pallet pool has higher uptime. Robot has higher flexibility. Depends on your mix.

For pure milling machines I still prefer pallets. Less variables. Robot has to deal with chips, coolant, part orientation, gripper wear, etc.
On the Integrex the robot makes more sense sometimes because you’re dealing with chucking and bar work anyway.
Just my 2 cents.
