With all the iot devices im adding to my network im getting worried about security. What are the best practices you guys follow? Should i put everything on a separate vlan? Use vpn for remote access? Worried about someone hacking my smart home devices.

Separate vlan is definately recommended. Also change default passwords on everything (cant stress this enough), disable upnp on your router, and use strong wifi encryption. For remote access, use wireguard vpn instead of exposing ports. Keep firmware updated on all devices. Consider using a firewall like pfsense to monitor traffic between vlans. Its a bit of work to set up but worth it for peace of mind.

Good advice, thanks. I'll look into setting up that vlan this weekend.
