Cost comparison:
Business broadband static IP: ₹2,000–₹3,000/month
VPS with static IP: ₹400–₹800/month
No brainer.

Avoid relying on ISP static IP unless you need ultra-low latency. Cloud VPS latency to NSE is already good enough for most retail algos.

If you still want to run your bot on your home PC, you can create an SSH tunnel via a VPS. All API traffic goes through the VPS static IP, but computation stays local. Slightly advanced, but works.

Another option is dedicated IP VPN, but some brokers block VPN ranges. VPS is safer because it’s a clean IP and looks like a normal server, not a proxy.

+1 for VPS. I’m using AWS Lightsail (₹600/month). Static IP, 24/7 uptime, no power cuts. My Zerodha Kite Connect works perfectly. Home internet IP keeps changing, so broker blocks it.

Yes, very common problem. Most of us don’t use ISP static IP. We run our trading bots on a VPS (cloud server). Providers like DigitalOcean, AWS Lightsail, and Vultr give a permanent public IP by default. You just whitelist that IP in your broker panel and run your API from there. Much cheaper than business broadband.

My broker requires a static IP for API trading, but my ISP only offers it with an expensive business plan. Is there any practical workaround to get a fixed IP without upgrading to business broadband? Looking for real solutions used by traders.
