From Script to Video in Minutes: Why Fortune 100 Companies Are Ditching Cameras

London-based AI video firm Synthesia keeps expanding beyond simple avatar clips. The company, now valued at around $4 billion after its latest funding round earlier this year, lets businesses type out a script and get a polished talking-head video back in minutes, complete with realistic digital presenters that speak more than 140 languages. No cameras, no studios, no actors needed. Big companies have piled in — roughly 90% of the Fortune 100 use it for training videos, onboarding and internal updates — and even airlines like Ryanair have started pumping out disruption notices and staff training material with the tool, cutting production time dramatically.

Lately the platform has been pushing into interactive territory. In July it launched Roleplay Sessions, where employees can practice tough conversations — sales pitches, performance reviews, customer complaints — with an AI avatar that actually talks back, pushes back and then scores the exchange. The firm says early customers already include some of Europe’s largest companies and a major recruitment outfit. It has also rolled out better dubbing tools, bulk translation features and even an AI “press officer” avatar that answers questions about the company in real time.

For a lot of learning-and-development teams the appeal is straightforward: video that used to take hours or days now takes minutes, and the same content can be spun out in dozens of languages without extra filming. Whether that stays a pure productivity win or starts replacing more human-led training remains an open question, but for now the orders keep coming in.
